Frances (Auntie Fanny) and Mary, sisters ... per Bill Azman Jr. 03/26/2012 correspondence: Fanny Tomsic-Hocevar and grandpa Tomsic were brother and sister. The other sister of grandpa Tomsic, JENNIE TOMSIC ZALAR, lived in Colorado...and Uncle Bill (WmF Tomsic) went there on a motorcycle...an Indian motorcycle! MARY TOMSIC married JOHN TOMSICK ...spelled with a K....that was Kenny's mom and dad...he was a change of life baby....had a detective-cop brother who had a bar on the west side..his name was Adolph...there is a sister still living also... Kenny was mom's first cousin and is our second cousin and his real name was 'Clarence.' The other children of this marriage were: Josephine, John, Adolf and Florence. Mary stayed in Cleveland area, it seems, and was married to John Tomsick. See Anton Tomsic death record. Jennie Tomsic ZALAR was the sister in Colorado. (Press announcements for Anton's death misspell the Zalar name.) Mary and John lived on Luther Avenue off East 55th in early years. |

Narrative
Per son Kenny (Clarence) Tomsick, April 2014, his father's name was originally spelled "Tomsic" like the rest of the family. But when he and Mary Tomsic, who met in Colorado, set up a tavern there, the local records put him down as Tomsick. It seems to have stuck.
as conveyed from Kenny in email from Bill Azman:
... John Tomsic, Kenny's father worked in a silver mine for 2 years, then had a chance to buy a tavern in Leadville, Co. He did, and hired grandpa's sister Mary as a barmaid. They both ended up in Leadville from Ellis Island....perhaps got on the wrong train. That's how they met. He said his father was from Hinje..in the old country....same place as Pa [Anton] Tomsic! Kenny also said that his father spelled the name as we have it, Tomsic. But, when he was signing up for the tavern, the irishmen spelled it as it sounded....thus Tomsick.
