Narrative

Hannah Sandeen lived on the Northern coast of Sweden and was able to leave at age 19 when her "boyfriend" (who had just gone to Wisconsin) paid her way over, hoping she would marry him (she dumped him). She got a job as a "nanny" for a railroad executive, and lived with that family to support herself. They liked her, supported her, and helped her learn English. She liked them, and named her first son (my father) "Everett", which was the name of the railroad executive with whom she lived.

Later comment from grandson Carl Arthur (Art) Sandeen: "Hannah was born, I think, in SkellefteƄ, Sweden. sp? I suspect her DOB was around 1880, but I don't know for sure."
