What I've seen so far in comparing our trees is a pretty strong possibility of a Papez connection, along with a possible Tomsic relationship. A sister of my ancestor, Anna Papez, married a Pecjak from the village of Gradenc, Hinje parish in 1857.
The Jozef Papez b. 1820, shown in your tree, was a son of Gregor Papez, I believe. As I'm sure you're aware, the pre-1835 Hinje records were burned in a church fire. I have located older land records (urbars) and some other useful records recently in the Austrian archive. Although these can't be used like church records to establish exact relationships, I have found them useful to get a sense of the Papez surname and where the land-holders lived. What strikes me is that the given name Gregor was used quite a bit as a hereditary name in the line leading to my furthest-back ancestor Georg (Jurij), who was likely born around 1750 in the village of Gradenc. It seems like a strong possibility that Georg was a son of Gregor Papez, and I think your Gregor may have been another son of the senior Gregor. What complicates this is that by 1800, there were already a number of Papez branches in Hinje, Zuzemberk, and Ambrus parishes. I'm sure you've seen that at least 50% of all guys were named Jozef.
