Anton's second youngest son was my mother's father. My grandfather moved south for work (he was a teacher) but plenty of the other Laurich relatives are still in Pennsylvania.

------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, Bill [William Laurich, Anton's son] was my grandfather. I suspect we've heard a lot of the same stories about Tony. I believe he was also trained as a teacher, but preferred the military and is buried with honors at Arlington. My mother says he was a hilarious story teller. Let me see what I can tell you about the other siblings...

Libby was the oldest. I don't know much about her, but she lived on a small farm in PA that may or may not have been inherited from her parents. Then there was Julia, whom I also know nothing about, then Tony, then Anna, who to the best of my knowledge is the only sibling who never married. I can't really tell you much else about her though.

After Anna was my grandfather, who did fight in WWII but got out immediately after. He married another Pennsylvanian (Agnes) but moved to Maryland not long after because there were more teaching jobs available. He taught high school shop and eventually became the vice principal. They stayed in Maryland the rest of their lives.

After my grandfather was Ernie, who is the only one of the group I ever met. He was a big, burly man who worked a number of jobs including farming and truck driving. By the time I was old enough to meet them, he and his wife were living on Libby's farm and taking care of it for her because she was in a nursing home. He died in 2003; his wife Lavon died 2 years later.
